Hy-Line North America operates a fleet of specialized vehicles used in the transportation of chicks and eggs. Our maintenance team plays a critical role in keeping our equipment safe, reliable, and operating efficiently. We are looking for an individual who is eager to learn, grow, and become a valuable member of our maintenance team.
Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a CDL A Truck & Trailer Maintenance Technician Trainee to join our fleet maintenance team in Warren/Huntington , Indiana. This position will work directly with our experienced maintenance technicians to learn and assist with the preventative maintenance and repair of our chick and egg transportation trucks and trailers.
The ideal candidate will have basic diesel maintenance experience, a willingness to learn, and a valid CDL Class A license. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow their skills in truck and trailer maintenance while working alongside experienced professionals.
Staring amount is 25.00/hour but candidates with more expertise are subject to higher wage.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist senior maintenance technicians with truck and trailer repairs.
- Perform preventative maintenance services on company equipment.
- Help inspect, repair, and replace brakes on trucks and trailers.
- Assist with tire repairs, replacements, and inspections.
- Learn to diagnose and troubleshoot diesel equipment issues.
- Conduct routine vehicle and trailer safety inspections.
- Help maintain DOT-compliant equipment records.
- Operate company vehicles as needed.
- Keep the shop and work areas clean and organized.
- Follow all company safety procedures and maintenance standards.
Qualifications
We’re seeking candidates with a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Candidates must be able to operate company owned specialized tractor-trailers and shop equipment. Must be flexible as situations change based on customer needs, changes in schedule and weather. Must have ability to work independently and as part of a team and willingness to learn. Ability to lift at least 55 lbs and operate electronic Logs (ELD). Candidates must not own or have any regular contact with any poultry or waterfowl. Compensation based on experience and qualifications.
Preferred
- Previous experience with diesel engines, trucks, or trailers.
- Experience performing brake work and tire repairs.
- Agricultural, transportation, or fleet maintenance experience.
- Welding or fabrication experience is a plus.
