Responsibilities
- Deliver prepared lesson plans and adapt instructional materials to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a safe, respectful, and engaging environment
- Implement curriculum guidelines across subjects such as literacy, math, science, and social studies
- Support students’ social-emotional development through positive behavior management strategies
- Communicate clearly with students to facilitate understanding and participation in lessons
- Collaborate with school staff and teachers to ensure continuity of instruction and classroom routines
- Use educational technologies and computers to enhance lesson delivery and student engagement
- Follow school policies, mandated reporting laws, and confidentiality requirements diligently
- Foster inclusive classroom environments that respect cultural diversity and individual learning styles
- Maintain accurate attendance records and complete necessary documentation for each assignment
- Must hold a current substitute certification with DESE.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with children or adolescents in educational or childcare settings is highly preferred
- Knowledge of curriculum development, lesson planning, and curriculum implementation techniques
- Strong classroom management skills coupled with effective behavior management strategies
- Familiarity with special education practices, including working with students with autism or other learning differences
- Excellent communication skills to interact with students, parents, and staff confidently
- Ability to adapt instruction based on student needs and classroom dynamics
- Experience using educational technologies and computers for instructional purposes
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education best practices
- Private school or Montessori experience is a plus but not required
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive environment that supports students from diverse cultural backgrounds
