About Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition (MBCC)
Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition (MBCC) is dedicated to preventing environmental causes of breast cancer through community education, research advocacy, and changes to public policy.
MBCC is seeking an public health graduate intern to join our team for 1 full year from June 2026 to July 2027 to help support our support MBCC’s community outreach programs (including the award-winning Let’s Talk Prevention program) and communications. Additionally help support our annual fundraising for our LGBTQIA+ Dance Event in October 2026 and our Against the Tide Event in June 2027.
We are seeking a student intern to help Position Description
Interns must commit to 15 hours per week, preferably in the morning. While this internship is 100% remote, there may be opportunities to attend in-person events. This is an extremely visible position with frequent communication with MBCC’s Executive Director.
Core Responsibilities May Include:
- Research and assess new opportunities for outreach to key stakeholders in support of the Let’s Talk Prevention environmental health program for students
- Maintain contact lists and expand outreach database
- Develop communications strategies to expand the reach and engagement with local area schools, including both email and phone outreach
- Monitor pending legislation on PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) and facilitate outreach through various means of communication to inform and mobilize MBCC supporters and Massachusetts legislators
- Research and identify potential conferences, health fairs, and other environmental or health-related virtual and in-person events for MBCC to participate and attend these events as MBCC’s representative, interfacing with the public and sharing vital health information on ways to reduce toxic exposure as part of the Let’s Talk Prevention Program
- Facilitate outreach through various means of communication to drive awareness of community education materials available on the MBCC website
- Conduct audits of the MBCC website and identify areas in need of enhancement to ensure that the MBCC website is a key resource for relevant health content
- Draft blog posts, press releases, and other content as needed
- Research and identify breast cancer support information and resources as needed to be added to the MBCC website
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current Massachusetts resident
- Current enrollment in a master's program in public health, or closely related field
- Minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale
- Highly motivated and passionate
- Strong attention to detail with a view to overall scope of the project
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills, English fluency a must
- Detail-oriented, organized, with the ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines
- Ability to work and collaborate with a team remotely, and to assist other MBCC team members with activities outside of core responsibilities
- Familiarity with Gmail, Dropbox, Zoom, Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
