POSITION – Process Technician
Reporting to the Technical Director, the Process Technician will collaborate with a talented team of engineers and scientists to help develop and manufacture cutting-edge Myrias Optics components and systems. Specifically, this position will support Myrias’ nanoimprint and master fabrication development efforts, working with our design, and fabrication teams to optimize the masters and process conditions to enable accurate final imprinted optical devices with high performance and high yield. This position will also be responsible for transitioning the technology to our manufacturing team whose goal will be to bring a high volume, high yield nanoimprint process to market for our optical components and subsystems. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and capable technician to gain expertise in the growing fields of meta-optics, waveguides, and diffractive optics. Together, we can shape next-generation optical systems for consumer devices, AR, medical instrumentation, automobiles, robotics, and more.
POSITION TYPE: Full time, on-site
Travel : Up to 100% local travel within Massachusetts and the surrounding area
LOCATION: This position requires travel across multiple cleanroom facilities in Amherst (MA), Lowell (MA), Boston (MA), New Haven (CT).
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Develop and optimize nanofabrication processes for imprint masters
· Operate and calibrate Electron Beam Lithography (EBL), RIE/ICP etchers, PECVD systems, evaporation systems, sputtering systems, and thin-film deposition equipment
· Operate and calibrate lithography, pattern transfer, deposition, and etch processes to meet device requirements
· Perform process integration activities to improve yield, repeatability, and throughput
· Work closely with the Myrias process, characterization and manufacturing teams to develop and optimize ink formulations meeting product requirements and production standards
· Assist with fabrication of components and systems based on Myrias’ proprietary materials and processes meeting quality and optical performance specifications
· Conduct comprehensive nanoimprint ink tests and optimization, including formulation, imprinting, and post processing (calcination, ashing, etching, atomic layer deposition and/or overcoating)
· Characterize fabricated structures using SEM, profilometry, AFM, ellipsometry, and optical microscopy
· Analyze process data and troubleshoot fabrication issues
· Work closely with design, fabrication, characterization, and manufacturing teams
· Create and maintain SOPs, process flows, and production documentation
· Support technology transfer from R&D to manufacturing
· Create detailed internal reviews and customer product reports
· Assist in expanding Myrias fabrication capabilities through process improvements
· Travel between Myrias facilities and external cleanroom/nanofabrication facilities as required
· Monitor and participate in safe cleanroom practices
QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Microelectronics, or related discipline. Master’s degree preferred
· 3–7+ years of experience in semiconductor, photonics, MEMS, or nanofabrication environments.
· Strong understanding of microfabrication and nanofabrication process flows
· Hands-on experience with Electron Beam Lithography (EBL)
· Experience with RIE, ICP etching, PECVD, PVD, evaporation, sputtering, and thin-film deposition, process calibration and optimization
· Expertise in imprint or nanofabrication processes
· Experience with atomic layer deposition systems, high temperature ovens, etching tools, ashers and evaporation tools
· Experience with polymers, inorganic materials and chemicals with strong understanding of nanoparticle composites and binding chemistry
· Experience with wafer cleaning, surface preparation, and process integration
· Expertise with SEM, profilometry, AFM, ellipsometry, and optical microscopy
· Strong troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and process optimization skills
· Experience with document control and process documentation best practices
· Strong interpersonal and technical communication skills
· Ability and willingness to work across multiple cleanroom facilities
· Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
· Familiarity with startup environments is a plus
