Position Summary:
The Head Teller plays a key role in delivering excellent member experiences by accurately processing financial transactions, opening accounts, answering inquiries, and cross-selling products and services. This position follows established procedures while handling a wide range of member needs—from account maintenance to problem resolution.
Key Responsibilities:
Member Service & Transactions
- Greet and welcome members in a warm, professional, and timely manner.
- Process deposits, withdrawals, transfers, payments, and other teller transactions with speed, accuracy, and confidentiality.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of credit union policies, procedures, and security/robbery protocols.
Account Support & Solutions
- Open new accounts and verify accuracy and compliance with credit union guidelines.
- Assist members with account maintenance requests, research needs, and problem resolution.
- Ensure work area is properly stocked with necessary forms, supplies, and promotional materials.
Product Knowledge & Cross-Selling
- Educate members on Democracy FCU products and services to support their financial well-being.
- Identify and recommend solutions that fit member needs.
Team Support
- Collaborate with colleagues to maintain efficient branch operations.
- Adapt to new systems, procedures, and technologies as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support smooth branch operations.
Qualifications:

- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to multitask, manage time effectively, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Good judgment and the ability to resolve member concerns professionally.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 1 year of credit union experience preferred.
- At least 6 months of experience processing basic financial transactions (deposits, withdrawals, transfers).
- Symitar experience preferred.
- Knowledge of teller operations and regulations including BSA, CIP, US Patriot Act, and FACT Act.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong math and typing skills.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform all essential job functions in compliance with ADA, FMLA, and applicable standards.
- Regular, punctual attendance is required.
- Ability to perform fine motor tasks such as typing or handling documents.
- Primarily sedentary work, involving standing and/or sitting for extended periods.
