As the Accountant, you will make a big impact by providing leadership, guidance, and support to all Accounting Department personnel and assist the Controller with the day-to-day, monthly, and year-end operations to ensure timely execution and quality of financial reporting. Other key responsibilities include assisting with month-end closing, financial statement preparation, and analysis of General Ledger accounts and schedules.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Prepares and verifies the accuracy of journal entries, accruals, and accounting classifications assigned to various records.
Daily balancing of assigned processes and accounts
Analyzes financial reports and records to support the recording, reconciliation, and validation of cash and clearing transactions, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial activity.
Prepares various monthly and annual accounting reports as assigned.
Maintains and updates procedural documentation and proactively identifies opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiency
Identifies, researches, and resolves accounting discrepancies, outages, and variances in a timely and independent manner.
Maintains accounting records and supporting documentation in an organized, complete, and audit-ready manner in accordance with internal control requirements.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Experience: Three years to five years of similar or related experience.
Education: (1) A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.
Interpersonal Skills: Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.
Demonstrated advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyze data, create reports, and improve process efficiency.
Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing, with internal and external members, vendors, and business partners.
Physical Requirements: Regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. Occasionally required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Occasionally lift and/or move up to ten (10) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and far vision, color vision, and ability to focus.
Work Environment: The noise level in the office work environment is typically moderate.
This position is required to work onsite in Albuquerque, NM.
