Mission Statement: Sobriety House, Inc. is a state-licensed, nonprofit, substance use disorder treatment provider dedicated to offering high quality and effective services through an extensive continuum of care to support clients in lifelong recovery, regardless of ability to pay.
Sobriety House is a nonprofit organization in Denver, CO that offers Intensive Residential Treatment (IRT), Transitional Residential Treatment (TRT), and Outpatient (IOP and Traditional) treatment for those with substance use disorders.
We’re looking for a skilled sous chef to prepare daily meals for our staff and residents, serving an average of approximately 50 people. This position prepares and serves meals cafeteria-style. The goal is to serve healthy and delicious meals which enhance our overall program of recovery.
Work Hours: Saturdays and Sundays required; other weekdays worked are flexible
Essential duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Partner with Head Chef to execute food preparation program for 40-60 people
- Prepares ingredients to use in cooking (chopping/peeling vegetables, cutting/slicing meat, etc.)
- Prepares breakfast and lunch; preps for dinner
- Washes dishes after meals are served, per sanitation protocol
- Weekly meal planning - prepares menus and posts one week in advance
- Responsible for safe preservation of food
- Keeps a sanitized, clean, and orderly environment in the kitchen
- Ensures all food and other items are stored properly
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- ServSafe certified
- Cooking & meal planning experience
- Experience working with specific dietary needs (vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, diabetic, etc.)
- 2 years experience working in a commercial kitchen
- Able to multitask and work independently
- Has experience, or willing to learn, nutritional meal preparation in a therapeutic setting
- Experience working with a budget
- Excellent people skills – friendly, cooperative, and able to work with a team
- Good communication skills
- Appropriate professional boundaries and adherence to agency confidentiality rules
- Stamina and endurance to perform all physical job requirements; able to lift up to 30 lbs.
