Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Level 3 Maintenance Technician (Working Lead) to join our manufacturing facility team. The Level 3 Maintenance Technician is the senior technical resource for the maintenance department. The position leads complex troubleshooting and repairs, applies a thorough understanding of CNC machine controls, performs root-cause analysis, and completes machine upgrades. The Level 3 Technician trains and develops Level 1 and Level 2 technicians, models safe work practices including lockout/tagout, and is available on-call to respond when critical equipment is down.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex troubleshooting and repairs, including spindle rebuilds, machine controls, and precision alignments.
- Diagnose issues, create repair plans, and read and interpret schematics and technical manuals.
- Perform process improvement and root-cause analysis to prevent recurring failures and reduce downtime.
- Plan and complete machine upgrades and modifications.
- Train and mentor Level 1 and Level 2 technicians, building bench strength across the department.
- Serve as the technical escalation point for the team on difficult repairs.
- Help maintain maintenance records, schedules, and preventive maintenance (PM) plans.
- Perform routine, intermediate, and advanced maintenance tasks across all department equipment.
- Troubleshoot servo drives, ball screws, lubrication systems, and alignments.
- Correctly apply lockout/tagout and all plant safety procedures, and model safe practices for the team.
- Respond to on-call emergencies for equipment-down situations as needed.
- Help evaluate maintenance processes and recommend practical improvements, tooling, or upgrades that reduce downtime and errors.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Apply a thorough understanding of CNC machine controls to diagnose and resolve advanced faults.
Qualifications
- Preferred
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex CNC troubleshooting and repairs (spindle rebuilds, controls, precision alignments) with a thorough working knowledge of CNC machine controls
- Several years of progressive CNC / industrial maintenance experience, including a lead or mentoring role
- Relevant technical certifications or equivalent trade/vocational training
- Experience completing machine upgrades and reliability improvement projects Strong command of lockout/tagout and industrial safety procedures, and willingness to be on call for equipment emergencies
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Manufacturing / shop floor environment with exposure to noise, machinery, and varying temperatures
- Must be able to lift and carry equipment and parts, stand for extended periods, bend, kneel, and work in confined spaces as needed
- Must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds (e.g., parts, tools, materials)
