Job Summary:
The Mechanical Designer is responsible for developing conceptual designs, reviewing drawings and for providing support to the engineering team. The Designer postiion will be required to design project specific templates as required. This position will interact with the customer and project team to ensure that designs contain the necessary information required for the scope of work in alignment with budget for a successful project.
Responsibilities:
- Research and review project requirements and design information to determine if it is sufficient to complete the design while ensuring that the design concept can be met.
- Assist with the preparation of standard engineering documents and calculations, using Solid Edge/SolidWorks, Inventor and/or AutoCAD for drafting purposes.
- Coordinate with other Project Managers and Engineers to establish essential functions and deadlines necessary to finish specific projects and proposals
- Determine appropriate methods to create drawings using either a CAD template customized to the client’s requirements, a standard template designed for the specific type of work, or by updating an existing CAD file.
- Review drawings from other drafters to ensure alignment with scoping and corporate drafting standards.
Skills and Qualifications:
- An Associate’s degree in Drafting Technology or CADD Technology, or equivalent of five years of demonstrated experience in a Civil or Mechanical related engineering field.
- 5 or more years of related work experience required.
- Experience with Inventor, AutoCAD, and/or Solid Edge/SolidWorks is required.
- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
- Mathematical reasoning to choose the right mathematical methods or formulas such as algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, to solve problems.
- Critical thinking approaches using logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, or conclusions to solve problems.
- Basic knowledge and/or experience with manufacturing/operations processes including one or more of the following: assembly, welding, sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, heavy plate cutting and or burning, heat treatment, procurement, quality control, painting and material handling.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Mechanical aptitude with knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, use, repairs and maintenance.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
