We are a boutique interior design studio and retail showroom specializing in wallpaper, textiles, custom drapery, furnishings, and full-service design. We are seeking a highly organized, design-experienced Showroom Associate to independently manage client projects from initial consultation through completion.
This is a client-owning, retail-focused design role. The ideal candidate is confident working directly with clients, capable of managing multiple projects at once, and comfortable following projects through from start to finish with minimal day-to-day oversight.
Role Overview:
The Showroom Associate serves as the primary point of contact for showroom-based clients and is responsible for managing the full design process, including selections, estimates, coordination, and follow-through. Training and systems are provided; however, this role requires strong independence, accountability, and execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Client-Facing Design & Sales
- Lead client consultations and guide clients through design decisions
- Manage retail-based design projects independently from start to finish
- Present and finalize wallpaper, fabric, drapery, and finish selections
- Coordinate custom drapery and window treatment projects
- Create mood boards, design presentations, and selection summaries
- Conduct or coordinate field measurements as required
Project Ownership & Follow-Through
- Prepare estimates and proposals and ensure timely client approvals
- Track selections, decisions, and next steps without constant supervision
- Coordinate with internal purchasing and operations teams
- Maintain clear communication with clients throughout the project lifecycle
- Ensure projects move forward efficiently and are completed accurately
Showroom Operations & Standards
- Maintain showroom presentation and merchandising standards
- Manage sample libraries and material organization
- Assist walk-in clients and support retail sales flow
- Answer phones and respond to inquiries professionally
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in interior design or retail-based design sales
- Strong knowledge of wallpaper, textiles, custom drapery, and finishes
- Comfortable owning projects and working independently
- Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple client projects simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Interior Design or related field
- Experience working in a design showroom or retail design environment
- Comfort with mood boards, presentations, and design software/tools
