Job Description
Position Summary:
- Ensure production and processing equipment operates efficiently to meet production goals.
- Collaborate with production staff to develop machine requirements for new product introductions.
- With limited supervision and minimal technical guidance, maintain and repair plant machinery and mechanical equipment.
- Diagnose machine issues, dismantle and replace defective parts, reassemble machines, and make necessary adjustments for optimal operation.
- Perform intermediate troubleshooting and provide training to less experienced maintenance staff.
- Expertise in both mechanical and electrical systems is required.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including 120V, 240V, and 480V equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical control circuits, motor controls, relays, contactors, VFDs, and sensors.
- Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and PLC documentation.
- Knowledge of electrical safety practices, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and NFPA 70E standards.
- Experience diagnosing and repairing electrical issues on production and processing equipment to minimize downtime.
- Familiarity with PLC troubleshooting and the ability to identify faults within automated systems.
Qualifications
- Performed troubleshooting and repair of electrical systems, including motors, control panels, VFDs, instrumentation, and automated production equipment.
- Read and interpreted electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to diagnose equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
- Conducted electrical preventive maintenance activities to improve equipment reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.
- Demonstrated experience working safely with industrial electrical systems up to 480 volts.
- Supported installation and commissioning of new equipment, including electrical connections, testing, and startup activities.
Education
- High School Diploma or GED- Formal Technical Training a plus.
- At Least 5 years of working in a maintenance role or related field.
- Technical certification, vocational training, or coursework in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, or a related field preferred.
- Journeyman Electrician license or equivalent industrial electrical experience is a plus.
Work Environment
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, and move around for extended periods.
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to noise, dust, and temperature variations.
- Ability to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
Physical Strength: Exerts up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Movement: Occasional climbing, stooping (bending body forward and down), crouching (bending body downward and forward by bending legs and spine), reaching (extending arms and hands in any direction), and handling (seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands).
