POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Manager of Preventive Health Services, performs professional work in the scientific application of human nutrition to meet the dietary needs of patients of the Watts healthcare Corporation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Include the following, other duties may be assigned.
- Determines dietary needs of patients from information gathered from consultation with medical staff, patients’ charts and other sources
- Calculates special diets orders necessary for patients.
- Observes, analyzes and records diet programs and patient responses to diets served to evaluate effectiveness of diets of dietary programs, to determine necessary changes or supplemental feeding and to provide dietary information for related medical purposes.
- Conducts classes in nutrition as related to diseases, i.e., weight control, diabetes, HIV/AIDS, etc.
- Provides nutrition consultation to all Corporation entities as needed.
- Maintains and keeps records on consultations and assessments given.
- Manages, maintains, organizes, and oversees the tracking attendance sheet for all health education class in collaboration with the Health Educator/Coordinator to ensure proper documentation of lab values, required forms, and attendance.
- Gives lectures to various community groups, agencies and schools on nutritional issues.
- Plan and develops nutrition programs

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Food and Nutrition of Dietetics and completion of an approved internship program by the American Dietetics Association. Must be a Registered
- Have at least three (3) years experience providing educational programs or services in the field of nutrition. Master’s Degree in related field is a plus. Must have car insurance and a valid California driver license.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Must be able to relate to a wide variety of patients, staff, and other entities. Ability to demonstrate the following: organizational skills, team work, and efficiency. Should be computer literate.
