Duties
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments.
- Take and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates.
- Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures and ensuring comfort throughout their visit.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), documenting patient information with precision and confidentiality.
- Perform phlebotomy and collect laboratory specimens following proper protocols to support diagnostic testing.
- Support medical office management tasks such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and handling patient intake processes.
- Administer medications and injections under physician supervision while adhering to safety standards and pharmacology guidelines.
- Maintain clinical supplies inventory, sterilize equipment, and ensure the cleanliness of exam rooms to uphold infection control standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant in outpatient clinics or hospital settings;
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD coding (International Classification of Diseases), and pharmacology principles.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent is required to ensure readiness for emergency situations.
- Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR/EHR systems) and EMR/EHR management tools to efficiently document patient data.
- Strong patient service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically across diverse populations.
