We are currently seeking a Ground Crew Technician to join our O’Fallon, MO team. This is an excellent entry-level or early-career opportunity for someone who enjoys outdoor work, wants to learn a skilled trade, and is willing to work hard as part of a professional tree care crew.
Position Summary
The Ground Crew Technician performs essential ground-level support duties for tree care operations. This position assists with job site setup, brush and debris handling, chipper operation support, tool and equipment staging, customer property protection, and general cleanup. The Ground Crew Technician works under the direction of a Crew Leader and supports climbers, tree technicians, equipment operators, and other crew members to help complete jobs safely, efficiently, and professionally.
What You’ll Do
As a Ground Crew Technician, you will:
- Assist with daily tree care operations, including pruning, removals, brush cleanup, and job site preparation.
- Drag, stack, load, chip, and dispose of brush, limbs, logs, and debris.
- Feed brush and limbs into wood chippers according to company safety procedures.
- Assist climbers and other crew members by handling ropes, staging tools, moving materials, and maintaining a clean work area.
- Set up and maintain safe work zones using cones, signs, barriers, and other safety equipment as directed.
- Help protect customer property, including lawns, landscaping, structures, fencing, driveways, and surrounding areas.
- Operate hand tools, rakes, blowers, pole tools, and other basic tree care equipment.
- Assist with chainsaw-related ground support duties once properly trained and authorized.
- Load and unload tools, materials, equipment, and debris from trucks and trailers.
- Perform basic equipment checks, cleaning, fueling, and storage duties.
- Follow instructions from Crew Leaders, supervisors, and senior crew members.
- Participate in safety meetings, job briefings, and company training programs.
- Maintain professional behavior with customers, coworkers, and members of the public.

Preferred Qualifications (Preferred, but not required):
- Previous experience in tree care, landscaping, construction, farming, grounds maintenance, outdoor labor, or equipment support.
- Experience using basic hand tools, power tools, blowers, rakes, or small equipment.
- Experience working around trucks, trailers, chippers, loaders, or other field equipment.
- Basic chainsaw experience.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- OSHA 10 certification.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Interest in earning additional certifications or advancing into higher-level tree care positions.
Physical Requirements
This is a physically demanding field position. Candidates must be able to:
- Work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, wind, humidity, and changing weather conditions.
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, twist, climb, reach, lift, carry, push, and pull throughout the workday.
- Lift and carry brush, limbs, logs, tools, fuel containers, and job materials.
- Walk and work on uneven terrain, slopes, lawns, wooded areas, and job sites with natural obstacles.
- Work around sawdust, dust, insects, poison ivy, noise, traffic, moving equipment, falling limbs, and other field hazards.
- Safely work near chainsaws, chippers, trucks, trailers, ropes, and heavy equipment.
- Wear required personal protective equipment, including helmet, eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, and other PPE as assigned.
Work Schedule
This is a full-time, year-round position based out of O’Fallon, Missouri. Work schedules may vary depending on weather, customer needs, job demands, seasonal workload, and storm response operations. Overtime may be required during busy periods.
