Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians with medical procedures including animal restraint, catheterization, and administering treatments.
- Perform tasks such as feeding and cleaning kennels to ensure optimal health and hygiene.
- Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques and provide dog handling and training support as needed.
- Support laboratory work by collecting samples, performing basic tests, and maintaining accurate records of results.
- Maintain aseptic techniques during procedures to prevent infection and ensure a sterile environment.
- Contribute to critical care efforts by assisting with emergency procedures and supporting animals in veterinary critical care situations.
Experience
- Previous kennel experience or hands-on animal handling experience is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of animal anatomy, veterinary terminology, and pet care best practices is essential (but can be trained).
- Experience with laboratory procedures, medical collection techniques, and aseptic protocols will be advantageous.
- Strong dog handling skills along with pet grooming or training experience will help you excel in this role.
- Prior veterinary experience or internships demonstrating animal restraint, catheterization, or critical care support are preferred but not mandatory.
