American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg-Tele Float Pool position requiring 2+ years of MS-Teleemexperience and a CO or Compact RN license, with flexibility to float within a 60-mile zone.

Active RN license - Colorado state license or Compact (NLC) required required (pending licenses not accepted)

Minimum of 2 years of MS-tele nursing experience required

Prior neuro experience preferred

BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS certifications required (active only, pending not accepted)

Comfortable titrating Heparin drips

Skill in caring for adult and geriatric patients with a wide range of diagnoses including cardiac, neuro, ortho, oncology, renal, urology, general surgery, gynecology, psych/detox, ENT, and general medicine

Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Float pool RN covering multiple units including General MS-Tele, Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, Rehab, Renal, Bariatrics, Ortho, Trauma, and ED Obs

No home base facility - assignment requires floating across five sister facilities within Zone 1 (Colorado Springs, Pueblo, and Canon City area)

May be asked to float to other acuity levels including ICU (low acuity holds), PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele

Must reside at least 60 miles from the Colorado Springs zone city center as part of the float radius policy

Schedules are released 4-6 weeks in advance and follow either a single-facility format or a Just-In-Time format where facility assignment is given 1-2 hours before shift start

First float assignment communicated on or before the Monday start date

6-9 weekend shifts required within a 6-week schedule

May be required to participate in holiday rotation

Rare call/standby requirement, typically only for low census situations

Charge nurse is designated on each unit and generally does not take a patient assignment unless necessary
-
Nursing assistants are available on the unit
-
RT equipment such as vents, CPAP, and BiPAP is used on the unit
-
Nurse to patient ratio ranges from 1:5-6 based on acuity
-
Must attend orientation in-state during the first week, even if initial modules are remote
-
Cannot miss more than 3 shifts during the 13-week contract

Time off requests must be submitted prior to starting the assignment

Candidates who have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility within the past year are not eligible
