Title: Middle School Visual Arts Teacher
Location: Middle School South
Qualifications: Hold, or be able to obtain, a valid Arkansas Teaching license in the
area of Visual Arts.
Reports To: Building Principal
Responsibilities:
- Teach course in Visual Arts utilizing course of study approved by the Siloam Springs School District.

Teach a balanced Visual Arts curriculum.

Provide instruction by which students develop aesthetic concepts and appreciations and the ability to make qualitative judgments about art.

Understand a variety of art techniques.

Maintain professional competence through in-service education.

Knows and has the ability to apply elements of design and modern principles of art.

Provide individual and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual and artistic abilities, and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities.

Instruct students in proper care and use of tools and equipment.

Evaluate each student's performance and growth in knowledge and aesthetic understandings as well as preparation of progress reports in these areas.

Select and prepare requisitions of books, instructional materials, tools, instructional aids as well as maintaining required inventory records.

Plan and present art displays and exhibitions designed to exhibit students' work for the school and the community.

Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and/or in self-selected professional growth activities.

Communicate with parents and school counselors on pupil progress.

Participate in curriculum and other developmental programs.

Perform other duties as may be assigned by district administration.

Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations. This includes maintaining accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.

Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Length of Contract: 190 Days
Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of staff.
