Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse for the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care during the critical recovery phase following anesthesia. This role requires a strong background in nursing, with experience in acute care settings, and the ability to assess and respond to patient needs effectively.
Duties
- Monitor patients' vital signs and overall condition post-surgery or procedure.
- Administer medications and IV infusions as prescribed, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Perform patient assessments and document findings accurately in electronic health records (EHR).
- Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure seamless patient transitions from the operating room to recovery.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding post-operative care.
- Manage acute pain through appropriate interventions and medication administration.
- Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to infection control protocols.
- Assist with procedures such as suturing, catheterization, and airway management as needed.
- Participate in discharge planning and coordinate follow-up care for patients.
Skills
The successful candidate will possess a variety of skills including but not limited to:
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
- Experience in critical care, ICU, or emergency medicine settings.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
- Competence in IV insertion, phlebotomy, medication administration, and basic life support.
- Familiarity with ICD-9/ICD-10 coding and medical documentation practices.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, and individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Experience with pain management techniques and acute care protocols.
- Strong communication skills for effective patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Pay: $43.19 - $52.02 per hour
