General Functions:
Provide recreational planning, training, and implementation in leisure services for adults with developmental disabilities residing in community residential settings.
Specific Functions:
- Arrange, monitor, and implement recreational and leisure-time programming for individuals based on their specific needs.
- Complete Recreational Assessments
- Identify, develop, and link individuals to natural supports that match the individuals recreational, social, and spiritual needs.
- Establish and maintain relationships with purveyors of community recreational services in Joliet, Kankakee, and the surrounding areas.
- Source and maintain a monthly calendar of events to inform individuals and staff of community events, focusing especially on resources and opportunities that are free or low cost.
- As directed by the Manager of Recreational Programming:
Assure that applications for all Special Olympics participants are always current. Complete necessary paperwork for Special Olympic events in a timely manner (i.e., agency rosters, volunteer forms, SAT scores, medical certifications, etc.).
Assist with planning and execution of Special Olympics events, residential vacations, day trips, and one-on-one programming.
Coach Special Olympics' individual and team sports, as assigned.
- Communicate effectively with Case Managers and Lead Direct Support Professionals regarding the schedule of residential staff needed for recreational programs.
· Complete proper documentation timely: Incident Reports, Progress Notes, First Aid reports, etc. Participate in the development of the Personal Plan and attend the interdisciplinary staffings/special staffings, as assigned. Record the process and results of services in sufficient detail to provide information on service effectiveness and to meet MRO Rule 132
· Be an active team member of the Behavioral Health Clinic and provide programming activities with a focus on recreational and social well-being.
· Meet (or exceed) assigned direct services benchmark as determined by the Director of Clinical Services.
· Participate in monthly clinical supervision meetings, seek ongoing clinical supervision from supervisors, and participate in continuing education to maintain applicable and required licenses/certifications.
- Maintain First Aid/CPR and Safety Care certifications and maintain compliance with all other agency requirements.
- Maintain ongoing compliance with all agency-related training and certification requirements.
- Respond per established procedures to all emergency situations including medical, behavioral, fire, severe weather, and other hazards.
- Operate agency or personal vehicle in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Own, maintain, and use personal smartphone for company business in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Recreation preferred. Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist certification preferred. Bachelor’s degree in human services (counseling, social work, psychology, or similar) will also be considered. Experience working with adults with Intellectual or Disabilities is required Driving record and auto insurance coverage in accordance with agency policy. A post offer physical and criminal background check required. EOE. Reliable transportation required. EOE.
Pay: $22.50 per hour
