We are seeking a skilled and dedicated morning/day time Cook to join our team at a skilled nursing facility in Wilmington, DE. The hours are 5:30am-2pm. This position is responsible for preparing and/or directing the preparation of breakfast and lunch from scratch. A strong understanding of food safety, quality, and consistency is essential.
The ideal candidate will thrive in a healthcare kitchen environment and ensure that every dish meets high standards for sanitation, health, and personal hygiene.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare meals according to established menus and dietary guidelines
- Maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal sanitation and safety standards
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of kitchen spaces and equipment
- Monitor food supplies and coordinate with procurement for replenishment
- Maintain detailed records of food temperatures and sanitation checks
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient meal service
- Adhere to food production programs, portion controls, and presentation standards
Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of cooking experience in a healthcare setting
- Must have experience cooking soups, sauces, and entrees from scratch
- ServSafe Certified (ServSafe Allergens certification highly recommended)
- Proficient knowledge of food handling, preparation, and service practices
- Familiarity with kitchen cookware, appliances, and equipment maintenance
- Understanding of local and state health and safety regulations
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to multitask
