Landmark Preschool is seeking a full-time Preschool Assistant Teacher to join our team on the Westport campus. The ideal candidate is flexible, approachable, positive, and passionate about working with young children.
In this role, the Assistant Teacher will support the Head Teacher in creating a nurturing, developmentally appropriate learning environment that encourages students to learn, grow, and thrive. The Assistant Teacher will work with children in our Two’s, Three’s, and Four’s programs while supporting the mission, values, and curriculum of the school.
The Assistant Teacher may also serve as a substitute for the Head Teacher when needed.
- Assist the Head Teacher in implementing lesson plans and activities that support age-appropriate child development.
- Prepare classroom materials and assist with classroom setup and cleanup.
- Use positive language, interactions, and discipline strategies while modeling appropriate behavior.
- Actively participate in large- and small-group activities.
- Assist specialist teachers during enrichment classes and activities.
- Engage students in learning and play while fostering a positive classroom environment.
- Provide supervision to ensure student safety at all times, including during indoor and outdoor play.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student and family information.
- Direct parent questions regarding students to the Head Teacher.
- Follow all Landmark Preschool policies and procedures.
- Support the Head Teacher with classroom responsibilities as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of two years of experience working with young children; classroom experience preferred.
- Ability to actively engage with young learners, including regular bending, kneeling, stretching, and movement throughout the day.
- Experience using technology and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to creating a positive and supportive learning environment.
This is a full-time, hourly position with a pay range of $20–$23 per hour, based on experience. Various full-time schedules are available based on program needs.
The 2026–2027 academic year runs from August 25, 2026 through June 11, 2027.
