Position Overview
We are seeking a highly driven, hands-on, and results-oriented Operations Manager to lead our day-to-day warehouse operations, inventory control, logistics, and internal sales support team.
In this role, you will be responsible for streamlining logistics, optimizing warehouse workflow (specifically slab and cabinet handling), maintaining precise inventory management, and creating a seamless bridge between customer service and warehouse fulfillment.
Key Responsibilities
- Warehouse & Logistics Leadership: Direct daily warehouse operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and damage-free receipt, storage, handling, and dispatch of stone slabs and cabinetry.
- Inventory Management & Accuracy: Implement and oversee strict inventory control procedures, cycle counts, and audits to maintain high inventory accuracy across all SKUs.
- Team Management & Coaching: Supervise, mentor, and evaluate warehouse personnel and inside sales/customer service representatives. Foster a high-performance, safety-first culture.
- Process Improvement: Continuous evaluation and optimization of operational workflows, order fulfillment speed, and delivery schedules across NC and SC.
- Vendor & Carrier Management: Oversee fleet management/freight logistics, coordinating with local and regional trucking partners to ensure timely customer deliveries.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict OSHA guidelines and heavy-material safety protocols (overhead crane operation, A-frame slab handling, forklift safety).
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of proven operations management experience specifically within the building materials distribution industry (Cabinetry, Stone/Tile, Flooring, or Lumber wholesale distribution strongly preferred).
- Industry Knowledge: Solid understanding of B2B wholesale workflows, supply chain management, and heavy material handling.
- Leadership Skills: Proven track record of leading both warehouse teams and customer service/inside sales support staffs.
- Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with ERP/WMS systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, QuickBooks Enterprise, or industry-specific systems) and Microsoft Excel.
- Logistics Expertise: Solid understanding of local/regional freight dispatching and fleet logistics.
- Certifications: Knowledge of OSHA safety protocols; Overhead Crane and Forklift certification knowledge is a strong plus.
