Job Summary
We are looking for a hands-on senior engineer who can take ownership of Xplortiv’s technical delivery across the mobile application, backend platform and vendor web system.
This is not a management-only CTO role. The successful candidate must be able to design architecture, write production code, review other engineers’ work and deliver a working product under an aggressive timeline.
Responsibilities
* Convert the existing UI/UX, product requirements and architecture into a technical delivery plan.
* Establish all source code inside an Xplortiv-controlled GitHub organisation.
* Build and maintain the shared backend used by the mobile app and VMS.
* Define database schemas, APIs, authentication and permissions.
* Lead mobile, web and backend engineers.
* Integrate payments, booking availability, QR verification, mapping and video.
* Establish development, staging and production environments.
* Implement automated testing, monitoring, backups and deployment pipelines.
* Maintain clear architecture and API documentation.
* Deliver weekly demonstrations against agreed milestones.
* Ensure the platform can be maintained by engineers other than the original developer.
Required experience
* 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
* Strong TypeScript and JavaScript capability.
* Production experience with React Native, React and Next.js.
* Strong Node.js and PostgreSQL experience.
* Experience building marketplaces, booking systems or multi-sided platforms.
* Experience with Stripe Connect or comparable marketplace payments.
* Strong knowledge of authentication, permissions, API security and data protection.
* Experience shipping products to both the Apple App Store and Google Play.
* Demonstrable experience leading an MVP from architecture through launch.
* Strong written documentation and communication skills.
Highly desirable
* Experience with Supabase, PostGIS, Mapbox and video infrastructure.
* Experience with travel, hospitality, ticketing or experience marketplaces.
* Previous founding engineer or startup technical-lead experience.
* Experience rebuilding or taking over an incomplete product.
