About American Wild Horse Conservation
STAY WILD. Keep Wild Horses and Burros Wild.
American Wild Horse Conservation (AWHC) is the nation’s leading nonprofit protecting wild horses and burros on public lands, and trusted wild horse conservation experts. Our purpose is to keep America’s promise to wild horses and burros. We honor and uphold their federal protections under the Wild Free Roaming Horses and Burros Act of 1971 and work to ensure humane, sustainable management through advocacy, public reform, and on the range conservation programs. Through collaboration with lawmakers, scientists, advocates and communities, AWHC is building a future where wild horses and burros can thrive on the western landscapes that define our national heritage. We value Integrity, Grit, and Humanity.
Position Summary
The Communications Manager supports AWHC’s digital marketing, social media, email campaigns, and public relations in-house. This person will own the day-to-day execution of AWHC’s integrated communications strategy, to translate high-level brand and campaign vision into compelling, multi-channel content that grows our audience, deepens engagement, and drives fundraising and advocacy outcomes.
This role sits at the intersection of storytelling and strategy. You’ll connect the work of our conservation, law and policy, and field programs to the supporters and donors who make that work possible. You’ll manage AWHC’s voice across social media, email, web, paid digital, and earned media, ensuring every channel tells a cohesive story and moves people to act.
The ideal candidate combines creative instincts with a data-driven mindset, thrives in a fast-moving environment, and is energized by building something from the ground up. You don’t just post content, you understand why it matters, who it’s for, and whether it worked.
