Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and executing menus that meet dietary guidelines and customer preferences
- Prepare, cook, and present meals following established recipes and portion guidelines
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives, slicers, ovens, and other culinary tools
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and kitchen areas in accordance with food safety standards
- Handle food ingredients properly, ensuring proper storage, labeling, and rotation to prevent spoilage
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation and service times
- Support catering events by preparing large quantities of food while adhering to safety protocols
Experience
- Previous dietary department or dietary aide experience preferred
- Proven food service experience in restaurant or catering environments
- Strong knowledge of food handling safety standards and food safety management practices
- Skilled in culinary techniques such as slicing, knife skills, and recipe adherence
- Experience with menu planning, meal preparation, and food industry operations
- Familiarity with operating kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Excellent communication skills for effective teamwork with kitchen staff
