Responsible for providing strategic leadership and operational oversight for WESCO Transportation and Fleet Operations to ensure safe, efficient, compliant, and cost-effective delivery execution across the organization.
This role is responsible for transportation strategy, fleet performance, D.O.T. compliance, operational efficiency, driver development, vendor management, capital planning, and continuous improvement initiatives that support WESCO’s operational excellence and customer service standards.
The Senior Manager of Transportation & Fleet Operations leads the development of a world-class transportation operation focused on safety, execution, accountability, hospitality, and continuous improvement.

Lead and oversee all transportation and fleet operations to ensure safe, timely, efficient, and cost-effective execution.

Build and maintain a world-class transportation operation that is “best in class” within the industry.

Promote a culture of safety, hospitality, professionalism, accountability, and service throughout the transportation division.

Provide leadership, coaching, development, and accountability for transportation associates and operational leaders.

Support succession planning and transportation talent development initiatives.

Maintain a strong field presence to support operational consistency and relationship building.
Operational Strategy & Execution

Develop and execute transportation operational strategies that support company growth, efficiency, and customer service goals.

Oversee transportation execution performance including routing efficiency, fleet utilization, delivery execution, labor utilization, and operational productivity.

Identify operational opportunities that improve efficiency, reduce cost, and strengthen service performance.

Develop and oversee transportation KPI dashboards, reporting, and operational performance metrics.

Lead continuous improvement initiatives throughout Transportation and Fleet Operations.

Collaborate cross-functionally to support operational supply chain excellence throughout WESCO.
Fleet & Asset Management

Oversee preventative maintenance programs to ensure safe and economical fleet operation.

Lead vehicle lifecycle planning, replacement strategy, and total cost of ownership analysis.

Develop and manage annual transportation operating and capital budgets.
-
Oversee vendor relationships, fleet service agreements, tire programs, leased vehicle programs, and repair cost management.

Support evaluation and implementation of transportation technology, monitoring systems, and operational tools.

Ensure transportation assets are maintained to WESCO operational and safety standards.

Safety, Compliance & Regulatory Oversight

Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and company transportation regulations and standards.

Maintain oversight and execution regarding:
- DOT CFR 49

FMCSA regulations

CSA (Compliance, Safety, Accountability)

Driver qualification and accident files

Vehicle compliance requirements

Transportation safety standards
- Lead transportation safety initiatives, driver meetings, and compliance training programs.

Oversee investigation and review of driver violations, accidents, and transportation incidents.

Ensure all drivers maintain required certifications, licensing, and training standards.

Promote proactive safety leadership throughout the Transportation division.
Financial & Performance Management

Develop and manage department budgets, forecasting, and expense controls.

Analyze operational and financial performance to identify opportunities for improved efficiency and execution.

Monitor transportation cost trends, labor utilization, fleet productivity, and service metrics.

Support operational planning that aligns with WESCO’s strategic and financial objectives.

Assist in development and presentation of annual transportation operational plans and business strategies.
Relationship & Customer Support

Build strong working relationships across all WESCO departments, vendor partners, terminal operators, and customers.

Support internal and external customer service initiatives that strengthen transportation performance and reliability.

Partner collaboratively with operational leaders to support supply chain effectiveness and organizational execution.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree preferred and/or 7–10 years of progressive leadership experience in transportation, logistics, fleet operations, or related industries.

Strong leadership experience managing transportation operations, fleet performance, and operational teams.

Strong understanding of transportation operations, logistics, fleet management, and operational execution.
-
Working knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, CSA, and transportation safety regulations.
-
Strong financial and operational analysis capabilities including budgeting, forecasting, KPI development, and operational reporting.

Demonstrated ability to lead teams, develop associates, and drive operational accountability.

Excellent communication, leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in fast-paced operational environments.

Strong computer proficiency including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and transportation operational systems.

Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and operational functions.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in fuel transportation, logistics, or convenience retail distribution.

Experience leading transportation compliance and safety programs.

Experience with transportation analytics and operational KPI development.
-
Michigan CDL preferred or familiarity with CDL operational requirements.
-
Experience managing fleet capital planning and vendor negotiations.
- Mechanical Contractor License with a classification in Liquid Petroleum Gas (LP) Distribution Piping.
