The Title Team is excited to be seeking a Residential Title Officer to expand our team!
- Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Examine title orders within company guidelines to determine the conditions of the title and insurability by considering the effect of documents such as deeds, mortgages, mechanics liens, state and federal tax liens, judgments, bankruptcy cases, child support liens, property assessments, probates and other matters of record
- Examine documentation such as mortgages, liens, judgments, easements, plat books, maps, contracts, and agreements in order to verify factors such as properties' legal descriptions, ownership, or restrictions
- Maintain proper production levels and delivery standards on a daily basis
- Confer with realtors, lending institution personnel, buyers, sellers, contractors, surveyors, attorneys and courthouse personnel in order to exchange title-related information or to resolve problems
- Utilize and research with respective title plant software, and various courthouse systems to analyze and evaluate pertinent record documents for determination of ownership, legal descriptions, title defects and any conjunction to title
- Explain chain of title, exceptions, and requirements to customers, colleagues, and land owners
- Obtain and examine maps, plats and drawings, delineating properties from company title plants, county surveyors, and/or assessors' offices
- Assess risks and liabilities that may jeopardize the company, and bring these matters to the attention of the local title manager, or various underwriters, as deemed appropriate
- Prepare an accurate title commitment in accordance with company examining and policy procedures
- Provide a high level of customer service, including the building of strong relationships with our customers and colleagues
EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite is desired.
- High School Diploma, Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Preference will be given to those with industry experience.
