Guerra Gutierrez Mortuary is a family-owned mortuary dedicated to serving families with compassion, dignity, and respect during life's most difficult moments. We are seeking a caring, dependable, and team-oriented Funeral Arranger/Funeral Director to join our staff.
Working in a family-owned mortuary means wearing many hats. Every member of our team works together to provide exceptional service to the families we serve. We are looking for someone who is compassionate, flexible, organized, and willing to support coworkers whenever needed.
Responsibilities
- Meet with families to arrange funeral, memorial, and cremation services with compassion and professionalism.
- Guide families through available service options, merchandise, pricing, and required documentation.
- Ensure families provide all required clothing, photographs, jewelry, and other requested items in advance to help create a smooth experience for both the family and our team.
- Prepare contracts, permits, authorizations, death certificate information, and other necessary paperwork.
- Coordinate and communicate service schedules with office staff, funeral directors, clergy, cemeteries, crematories, florists, and other vendors.
- Direct funeral, memorial, graveside, and church services with professionalism and attention to detail.
- Drive the hearse and other funeral vehicles to churches, cemeteries, and other service locations when needed.
- Work collaboratively with fellow arrangers and directors to ensure every family receives outstanding care.
- Assist with other team members' families or services when they are unavailable, knowing they will do the same for you.
- Receive payments, clothing, memorial items, and other materials from families.
- Answer incoming telephone calls and assist walk-in visitors.
- Prepare coffee and assist with hospitality for visiting families and guests.
- Assist as a team with setup, cleanup, and maintaining the appearance of the mortuary before, during, and after services.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment throughout the facility.
- Participate in a rotating weekend and on-call schedule with other arrangers.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable state regulations and mortuary policies.
Qualifications
- Funeral Director license preferred (or ability to obtain licensure, if applicable).
- Previous funeral arranging and funeral directing experience is highly preferred.
- Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
- Compassionate, professional, and able to remain calm under pressure.
- Team-oriented with a willingness to assist wherever needed.
- Comfortable multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
- Computer proficiency required, including the ability to quickly learn funeral home management software.
- Experience with Tribute Technology/TMS funeral management software is plus, but candidates who are computer-savvy and willing to learn are encouraged to apply.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is highly preferred.
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
