We are seeking passionate and dedicated Grade 6 ELA (English Language Arts) and Secondary Special Educators who are NYS (New York State) Certified ONLY NEED APPLY to join our dynamic educational team. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with NYS standards in ELA and ALL curricula, incorporating creative writing, literacy education, and curriculum development principles.
- Adapt instructional materials to meet the needs of students with disabilities, including those with autism and developmental disabilities, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively through positive behavior management techniques and classroom management strategies to foster a safe learning environment.
- Conduct assessments using standardized testing methods; analyze results to tailor instruction and support student progress.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop, review, and update Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), ensuring compliance with state regulations.
- Utilize learning technology tools to enhance instruction; incorporate multimedia resources, educational software, and assistive technologies as appropriate.
- Provide tutoring, mentoring, and academic advising to support students’ literacy skills, math understanding—including algebra and calculus—and overall academic growth.
- Engage in professional development activities related to special education practices such as applied behavior analysis (ABA), behavioral therapy techniques, and Montessori or other educational philosophies.
- Maintain detailed documentation of student progress, behavior reports, lesson plans, and IEP meetings in accordance with district policies.
Requirements
- Valid NYS certification for Grade 6 ELA and 5-9 / 7-12 Special Educators; Generalist or Content Specific: Math and Science certification would be awesome and must be up-to-date and in good standing.
- Proven classroom experience working with children in elementary or middle school settings; experience with students with disabilities strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of literacy education, math including algebra and calculus fundamentals, standardized testing procedures, and curriculum development best practices.
- Familiarity with teaching physical education components or library services is a plus but not required.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with colleagues, parents, specialists, and students; ability to adapt communication style for diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated skills in behavior management, classroom management techniques, and behavioral therapy strategies to support student success.
- Experience working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities; knowledge of applied behavior analysis (ABA) is advantageous.
- Ability to integrate learning technology into daily instruction effectively; proficiency in using educational software is desirable.
- Strong organizational skills for lesson planning, data tracking, IEP documentation, and assessment analysis.

Pay: $58,909.39 - $70,944.64 per year
