Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Infection Control/Staff Development Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) to join our healthcare team. This vital role focuses on implementing and overseeing infection prevention protocols, ensuring compliance with health regulations, and fostering staff education to promote a safe, clean, and healthy environment for residents and staff alike. Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor infection control policies in accordance with CDC guidelines, OSHA standards, and long-term care regulations to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
- Conduct comprehensive patient observations and monitor for signs of infection or disease progression, documenting findings accurately in medical records and ensuring timely communication with healthcare teams.
- Lead infection control training sessions for staff members, emphasizing aseptic techniques, microbiology principles, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Review medical documentation such as care plans, medical records, and data collection reports to ensure compliance with health regulation policies and identify areas for improvement.
- Manage data related to infection rates, outbreak investigations, and epidemiological trends to inform strategic decisions on disease prevention policies.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop effective care plans that incorporate infectious disease care strategies while adhering to HIPAA privacy standards.
- Stay current on updates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), OSHA regulations, and other public health directives to ensure ongoing compliance and best practices in infection prevention.
Requirements
- Valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) licensure with active state certification.
- Proven experience in infection control within healthcare settings such as hospitals, assisted living facilities, or long-term care environments.
- Critical care experience including acute care settings or Level I/II trauma centers is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of microbiology, anatomy, physiology, epidemiology, and disease prevention policies.
- Familiarity with long-term care regulations, healthcare infection prevention standards, MDS (Minimum Data Set) processes, and documentation review procedures.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with experience managing teams or leading staff development initiatives.
- Excellent understanding of medical terminology, medical records management, data management systems, and healthcare data collection methods.
- Knowledge of infection control regulations such as OSHA standards and CDC guidelines to ensure facility-wide compliance.
- Ability to effectively monitor patients’ conditions while maintaining aseptic techniques during procedures.
- Strong communication skills combined with a proactive approach to team leadership and public health initiatives.
