Job Summary:
To contribute to the safe and efficient operation of the school cafeteria for the ultimate health, comfort, and benefit of the students.
Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities:
- Use a computer based point-of-sale system to adjust account balances, collect money and enter/confirm count for reimbursable meals.
- Understand requirements for reimbursable meals and monitor student trays to ensure requirements are met.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding the identity of those students who are participating in the free and reduced price meal programs as well as HIPPA related information, including allergies.
- Maintain the highest standards of safety and cleanliness in the kitchen and meet all HACCP requirements.
- Operate and maintain the dishwasher in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner; report any malfunctions to the manager immediately.
- Keep Food Service Manager informed of low inventories.
- Portion and serve food to students and staff while following standard procedures, health and safety regulations, and HACCP requirements.
- Must be able to learn, apply, and explain policies, procedures, rules, and regulations as needed.
- Report accidents and refer potential safety hazards to the location’s Food Service Manager.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude toward food nutrition.
- Meet required schedules and time lines.
- Demonstrate loyalty and dedication to the purposes and goals of the Daviess County Public Schools.
- Participate in planned training programs.
- Understand and follow oral and written directions.
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
If approved as a substitute food service assistant, you will be required to complete all state and Board mandated training.
