- Provide expert instruction in swimming technique, starts, turns, race strategy,
conditioning, and competitive preparation.
- Oversee the development and implementation of appropriate diving instruction and
training in collaboration with qualified diving staff.
- Develop season-long training plans that prepare student-athletes for WCAC
competition, championship meets, and postseason competition.
- Establish a culture of excellence, accountability, teamwork, sportsmanship, and
personal responsibility.
- Recruit and retain student-athletes while supporting the school’s overall enrollment
and athletic recruitment efforts.
- Identify and develop emerging talent while creating appropriate pathways for
experienced athletes to reach their highest level of performance.
- Build strong relationships with club programs, middle schools, prospective
student-athletes, alumni, and families to strengthen the program.
- Collaborate effectively with assistant coaches, athletic department staff, faculty, and
school leadership.
- Manage team logistics, including meet schedules, travel, entries, equipment, uniforms,
facilities, and other operational responsibilities.
- Maintain appropriate communication with student-athletes and parents/guardians
regarding schedules, expectations, team policies, and program information.
- Monitor student-athlete eligibility, academic progress, attendance, conduct, and
overall well-being in partnership with the Athletic Department.
- Conduct and/or coordinate appropriate out-of-season opportunities, including
summer training, strength and conditioning, camps, clinics, and other developmental
programming.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and positive training environment consistent with school
and athletic department policies.
- Ensure compliance with WCAC, school, and applicable swimming and diving rules
and regulations.
- Represent Good Counsel positively and professionally at practices, competitions,
community events, and other school-related activities.
- Embrace and model the mission and core values of Our Lady of Good Counsel High
School, including simplicity, humility, compassion, zeal, and trust.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; high school diploma required.
- Significant successful coaching experience in competitive swimming and/or diving at
the high school, club, collegiate, or comparable level.
