ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Completion of high school diploma or
approved GED certificate. Successful completion of POST- State Police Academy during the
first year of employment. Must possess a valid driver’s license issued by the State of
Tennessee. Successful completion of a State approved Fire Academy. Two years of course
work in the criminal justice or related field desirable, or any equivalent combination of training
and experience.
OTHER REQUISITES: From time to time the incumbent may be assigned special duties by a
superior or, on a temporary basis, may be asked to assist other employees occupying a different
position. Employees in this class may be required to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and
may be in an on-call status from time to time. This job description should not be construed as

ADA REQUIREMENTS:
Physical Requirements: Employees in this classification are responsible for maintaining
themselves as physically fit in order to meet the demands required of the position. Task
involves the regular, and at times sustained, performance of heavier physical tasks such as;
walking over rough or uneven surfaces, bending, stooping, working in confined spaces, and
lifting or carrying moderately heavy (20-50 lb.) items and occasionally very heavy (100 lbs. or
over) items. May involve the complex operation of gasoline, electric, or diesel-powered
machinery or shop equipment requiring the manipulation of multiple controls, fine
adjustments or both. Must be able to push and/or pull heavy objects, climb ladders, and possess
the physical strength to carry an individual.
