We are a local neighborhood taco bar committed to serving our customers with the highest quality products and service. Bird & Co. at 539 Deering Avenue is hiring a full-time evening prep cook. We are a fast growing company near Woodfords Corner, one of Portland's busiest neighborhoods. At least 2 years experience required. Please respond by email below, or stop in with a resume.
Dish/Prep Cook Duties:
-Prepare, cook and portion food items according to recipes and quality standards.
-Maintain quality food handling standards by practicing proper food preparation, including proper handling of food to avoid cross contamination, proper cooling of hot foods, proper rotation, and ensuring all food items stored in walk-in are properly covered, labeled and dated.
-Ensure all food is prepared in a timely manner and meets food safety guidelines.
-Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations for all catered events and delivery orders.
- Dish Maintenance: Clean, sanitize, and store dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans.
- Machine Operation: Load and operate industrial dishwashing machines.
- Sanitation: Keep the dish pit, kitchen work areas, floors, and storage areas clean and organized
- Waste Management: Empty, clean, and sanitize trash containers.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper chemical use, as noted by Homebase.
- Support Duties: Assist with additional duties as required.
-Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations for all catered events and delivery orders.
-Maintain a clean an organized work area. Clean and sanitize tables and shelves before and after each prep project.
-Ability to accept direction from various people.
-Work independently as needed.
-Assist with stock rotation.
-Adhere to all dietary department regulations and guidelines.
Physical Demands:
-Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs throughout any assigned shift unassisted.
-Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
-Ability to sustain repetitive arm and hand motion.
