We are currently seeking a licensed Associate Litigation Attorney with preferably 2+ years of relevant experience in Mortgage Default, Real Estate, and Title litigation. Position is located in the Rochester Hills, Michigan office.
Manage your own caseload, which includes, but is not limited to:
- Drafting complaints, dispositive motions, and settlement documents
- Attending court hearings, including, but not limited to, motion hearings, pre-trial conferences, evidentiary hearings, and trials, throughout Michigan
- Reviewing and responding to discovery requests, as well as propounding discovery and conducting depositions
- Reviewing contested pleadings and drafting responses, replies, and/or motions
- Investigating facts and legal issues to determine causes of action
- Researching, analyzing, and interpreting sources of law such as statutes, rules and regulations, ordinances, case law, and other legal opinions
- Ensuring deadlines are maintained
- Entering and reviewing billable time
- Complying with client requirements
- This position will work directly with the Firm’s clients in providing recommendations and determining strategies for proceeding
- The caseload includes title litigation, contested foreclosures and evictions, nuisance abatement, collections, landlord-tenant, and other real estate related civil litigation
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school
- Must be licensed in the State of Michigan and be an active and in good standing member of the State Bar of Michigan
- Must be licensed in the Eastern District of Michigan with ability to gain licensure in Western District of Michigan
- Minimum 2 years of litigation experience
