Kennel Manager Duties & Responsibilities
The job generally requires the ability to perform the following duties:
- Coordinate and oversee operations of kennel, doggie daycare and front desk
- Train and supervise kennel workers, bather and front desk staff
- Set goals and model how to work together as a team
- Demonstrate a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events and manage smooth transitions to keep operating to standard and to set a positive example for the team
- Manage with integrity, honesty and knowledge that promote the values and mission of U Dirty Dawg
- Constantly review store environment to identify problems, concerns, and opportunities for improvement to provide direction to the team to achieve operational goals
Main Duties
- Making sure that front desk staff, kennel staff and bather are being productive
- Developing and enforcing kennel policies and procedures
- Greeting clients, Scheduling boarding and grooming appointments
- Ensuring cages, runs, and the overall facility is cleaned and deep cleaned on a regular basis using checklists
- Ensuring the animals are exercised, fed and cared for
- Ensuring animals with special needs are cared for, including properly medicating if needed
- during their stay
- Monitoring the behavior of boarded animals
- Ensure that every dog is receiving the care an attention it deserves during its stay
- Ensure that all kennel staff provide th
- e care and attention we promote to our customers
- Ensure quality customer service – handle and problem solve any customer related issues with a customer friendly attitude
Development & Team Building
- Actively manage kennel staff by regularly conducting performance evaluations and providing feedback to improve performance
- Hold staff meetings before upcoming busy times to reiterate rules and safety and build positive attitudes
- Lead by example: follow all company procedures and policies and ensure team adheres to operational compliance requirements; be a “hands-on Manager!”
- Recognizes and reinforces accomplishments by creating effective methods of recognition
Facility Maintenance
- Maintain interior and exterior of the property (coordinating with Owner and if appropriate, delegate the work appropriately if possible)
Marketing
- Put together information, pictures, promotions etc. to keep Company FB page current. Coordinate any deals, sales, events to promote Company
Shift-Lead Duties & Responsibilities
The primary purpose and function of a Shift Lead is to perform the duties of the Front Desk Receptionist and/or kennel staff as well as to provide operational support across all shifts, ensuring that there is always leadership onsite to support staff and clients.
The Shift Lead will help coordinate and guide the kennel and/or support staff maximizing the productivity and profitability of U Dirty Dawg. This position will work with the Manager to help ensure effective communication with clients, staff and Owner(s). Shift-Lead will also be responsible in making sure that kennel staff and support staff are being productive.
Main Duties (and if Manager is unavailable)

- Enforcing kennel policies and procedures
- Ensuring cages, runs, and the overall facility is cleaned and deep cleaned on a regular basis using checklists

- Ensuring any dog needing a “pity” bath receives one “for free” if the dog has messed on itself at any given time during their stay
- Floating and monitoring the behavior of boarded animals
- in its stayeceiving the care an attention it deserves during its stay
- Ensure that all kennel staff provide the care and attention we promote to our customers
- Ensure quality customer service – handle and problem solve any customer related issues with a customer friendly attitude (consult with Manager first is major issue)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
