The Ticketing Specialist processes ticket and other customer transactions through multiple sales channels, including phone, ticket window, mail, email, and online orders. This position also supports general Box Office operations, including order fulfillment, data entry, financial reconciliation, customer service, and administrative tasks.
The ideal candidate enjoys helping people, learns new technology quickly, pays close attention to detail, and can stay professional and positive in a busy environment where priorities and information can change frequently.
What You'll Do:
Customer Service & Ticketing
- Process ticket sales and reservations through phone, ticket window, mail, email, and online channels.
- Process single tickets, packages, subscriptions, group sales, waitlists, exchanges, and other ticket transactions.
- Process donations, memberships, gift certificates, and other miscellaneous transactions.
- Answer customer questions and provide accurate information about events, tickets, seating, and theatre operations.
- Provide friendly, professional, and empathetic service to a wide variety of customers.
Box Office Operations
- Complete data entry and maintain accurate customer and ticketing records.
- Fulfill orders by printing, packaging, mailing, and preparing Will Call tickets.
- Complete daily financial reconciliation and bank deposits.
- Make non-soliciting outbound calls as needed.
- Maintain an organized and welcoming Box Office environment.
- Assist with general office and administrative tasks.
Technology & Problem Solving
- Learn and maintain proficiency with MBT's ticketing software and point-of-sale systems.
- Use Microsoft Office, Google, Adobe, and other common software programs.
- Quickly learn and adapt to new software, procedures, events, and information.
- Use sound judgment, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving skills to resolve customer issues and unexpected situations.
Team Support
- Follow MBT and Box Office policies and procedures.
- Develop a working knowledge of theatre operations.
- Collaborate with Ticketing Leads, Box Office Management, and other departments.
- Assist fellow Ticketing Specialists as needed and share knowledge with team members.
- Support the Marketing Department and other MBT departments with projects such as poster distribution, research, mailer preparation, and other administrative tasks.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Ticket Office Management.
What We're Looking For:
Required Qualifications
- At least 2 years of front-line customer service experience.
- At least 1 year of experience handling money and maintaining accurate records and/or data entry.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to quickly learn and become proficient with new software and procedures.
- Excellent verbal communication and comprehension skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain professional, friendly, and empathetic in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently, follow detailed procedures, and manage a steady flow of new information.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with event or performing arts ticketing.
- Experience working with multi-line phone systems.
- Knowledge of music genres, performing arts, and popular culture.
Schedule
This is a per diem position averaging 10-19 hours per week, with hours scheduled based on theatre events and ticketing demands.
Typical weekday shifts are approximately 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Weekend and afternoon/evening shifts vary based on the performance schedule. Occasional additional hours may be required for special events or business needs.
The schedule varies from week to week and provides some flexibility.
Compensation: $20.60 per hour. This is a non-exempt, hourly position.
