Location: Sonia’s Seafood – Miami, FL
Reports To: General Manager / Assistant Manager / Floor Manager
Position Summary
The Server is responsible for delivering an exceptional dining experience by providing fast, friendly, and attentive service while demonstrating strong knowledge of the menu, especially seafood offerings.
This role requires the ability to confidently explain, recommend, and sell fish plates, seafood items, and menu options to guests. The Server plays a key role in driving sales, ensuring guest satisfaction, and maintaining service standards.
This is a guest-facing, fast-paced role that requires strong communication, product knowledge, and attention to detail.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Guest Service & Hospitality
- Greet guests in a friendly and professional manner
- Provide attentive and efficient service throughout the dining experience
- Maintain a positive, welcoming, and high-energy attitude
- Check on guests regularly to ensure satisfaction
- Handle guest concerns or complaints professionally and promptly
- Maintain strong communication with guests and team members
Menu Knowledge & Sales
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of all menu items, especially seafood and fish plates
- Clearly explain menu items, preparation methods, and portion sizes
- Recommend dishes, upsell add-ons, and promote specials
- Guide guests in selecting seafood based on preferences
- Answer questions about ingredients, freshness, and preparation
- Drive sales through confident and knowledgeable recommendations
Order Taking & Accuracy
- Take accurate food and beverage orders
- Enter orders correctly into POS system
- Ensure all modifications and special requests are clearly communicated
- Deliver food and beverages accurately and in a timely manner
- Verify orders before delivering to guests
Food Handling & Awareness
- Maintain awareness of food quality and presentation
- Ensure seafood dishes are delivered properly and meet standards
- Communicate with kitchen regarding timing and order accuracy
- Follow all food safety and hygiene standards
Cash Handling & Transactions
- Process payments accurately using POS system
- Handle cash, credit cards, and other payment methods
- Provide correct change and receipts
- Follow company procedures for transactions and accountability
Cleanliness & Table Maintenance
- Maintain clean and organized tables and sections
- Reset tables quickly and properly
- Ensure dining area, service stations, and outdoor areas are clean and stocked
- Complete side work and assigned cleaning duties
Teamwork & Communication
- Communicate effectively with kitchen and FOH team
- Support teammates during busy periods
- Assist with running food, clearing tables, and maintaining flow
- Maintain awareness of overall restaurant operations

Qualifications
- Previous serving experience preferred
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Ability to learn and retain detailed menu knowledge
- Experience with seafood or similar concepts is a plus
Language Requirements
- Spanish required
- Intermediate English required
Schedule & Availability
- Full-time or part-time positions available
- Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays
- Must be available for opening, mid, and closing shifts
- Ability to work 6–10+ hour shifts
