Position Summary
As a Transportation Account Manager, you’ll be responsible for developing and managing your own freight portfolio, driving new business, and ensuring customers receive top-tier service. You’ll collaborate with internal teams to execute freight seamlessly, while hitting sales goals and building strong, lasting client relationships.
Responsibilities
- Manage and grow a portfolio of accounts.
- Develop positive relationships with shippers, brokers, and direct accounts.
- Prospect and create new customer relationships.
- Manage the full sales cycle , lead generation, quoting, onboarding, and retention.
- Negotiate pricing while ensuring profit margin targets.
- Cater to existing customers’ needs with timely solutions and support.
- Resolve conflicts quickly and provide effective solutions.
- Collaborate with dispatch, operations, and compliance teams to ensure smooth freight execution.
- Track customer performance and proactively follow up to expand business.
- Work with upper management and cross-functional teams to support company goals.
- Meet and exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets.
- Contribute to a fun, energetic, and high-performance work environment.
Qualifications
- Education: Highschool Degree or GED
- A plus if you have Associates or Bachelors Degree in Sales/Business, Communication, Logistics, or Transportation is preferred but NOT required.
- Current Book of Business that follows is a plus
- 1 year of experience in freight brokerage, transportation sales, or 3PL
- Experience as a Sales Account Manager
- Understanding of sales performance metrics
- Working knowledge of load boards (DAT, Truckstop), rate negotiation, and lane trends is a plus but not required
- Self-starter with strong communication and follow-up skills
- Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment.
