Position Summary
Seeking a hands-on, self-motivated Facility Maintenance Technician to support the ongoing maintenance, repair, and improvement of our manufacturing facility, equipment, building, and property. This role is ideal for a mechanically minded problem-solver who can work independently, troubleshoot a wide variety of issues, and take ownership of keeping the facility operating safely, efficiently, and professionally.
The Facility Maintenance Technician will perform basic machine repairs, building maintenance, property upkeep, and general facility improvements. This position requires practical experience across multiple trades, including mechanical repair, plumbing, electrical, electrical, carpentry, and general maintenance. When work is outside the technician’s scope, this person will be responsible for contacting, coordinating, and negotiating with outside vendors to ensure the issue is resolved properly and cost-effectively.
This role requires someone with a solution-focused mindset, good judgment, creativity, and the ability to identify problems before they become larger issues.
Key Responsibilities
Machine and Equipment Maintenance
Perform basic troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on production equipment, shop equipment, tools, and facility-related machinery.
Assist with mechanical repairs involving bearings, belts, chains, guards, fasteners, motors, pneumatic components, hydraulic components, and other common manufacturing equipment needs.
Identify unsafe or unreliable equipment conditions and communicate repair needs clearly to management.
Coordinate with outside vendors or specialized technicians for repairs that require advanced electrical, controls, HVAC, rigging, or machine-service expertise.
Maintain accurate notes or records of repairs, service calls, parts used, and recurring issues.
Building Maintenance
Perform general maintenance and repair of the facility, including doors, locks, lighting, plumbing fixtures, drains, walls, floors, windows, basic carpentry, and general building systems.
Handle minor plumbing, electrical, and low-voltage electrical repairs within safe and appropriate limits.
Support upkeep of restrooms, break areas, offices, production areas, storage areas, and common spaces.
Monitor and maintain facility systems such as lighting, air lines, basic ventilation, water lines, shop fixtures, and general utilities.
Assist with layout changes, small facility projects, shelving, benches, guards, signage, and other improvements.
Property Maintenance
Maintain the exterior property, parking areas, sidewalks, yard areas, drainage areas, fencing, signage, and general grounds.
Coordinate snow removal, lawn care, waste removal, pest control, and other property-related services as needed.
Identify and correct safety hazards around the property, including trip hazards, water issues, damaged surfaces, blocked exits, and general housekeeping concerns.
Support seasonal maintenance needs and help keep the property clean, organized, and professional.
Vendor Coordination
Identify when outside vendor support is needed and communicate the scope of work clearly.
Contact vendors, gather pricing, compare options, and negotiate where appropriate.
Schedule service work with minimal disruption to operations.
Verify work has been completed properly and communicate any follow-up needs.
Maintain positive working relationships with contractors, service providers, suppliers, and equipment technicians.
Safety and Continuous Improvement
Follow all company safety procedures and use proper PPE when performing maintenance work.
Recognize unsafe conditions and take initiative to correct or report them.
Look for practical, cost-effective ways to improve reliability, safety, organization, and efficiency around the facility.
Use creative thinking to solve unusual maintenance problems and keep operations moving.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous hands-on maintenance, repair, construction, mechanical, farm, manufacturing, or trades-related experience.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
Strong troubleshooting skills and a practical, solution-oriented mindset.
Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, meters, basic diagnostic tools, ladders, lifts, and maintenance equipment.
Basic understanding of mechanical systems and general building maintenance.
Ability to communicate with outside vendors, gather quotes, negotiate basic pricing, and coordinate repair work.
Good judgment to know when a job can be handled internally and when a licensed or specialized contractor is required.
Ability to prioritize work, respond to urgent issues, and manage multiple maintenance needs.
Valid driver’s license preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, agricultural equipment, machine shop, or industrial environment.
Experience in multiple disciplines, including mechanical repair, plumbing, electrical, low-voltage electrical, HVAC basics, carpentry, welding/fabrication, hydraulics, pneumatics, or equipment maintenance.
Forklift, scissor lift, or aerial lift experience.
Experience managing vendor relationships or coordinating contractor work.
Ability to read basic manuals, parts diagrams, electrical labels, equipment documentation, and maintenance instructions.

Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, reach, and work in shop, office, mechanical, and outdoor environments.

Ability to work in varying temperatures, noise levels, and weather conditions.
Ability to respond to occasional urgent maintenance needs.
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
