Duties
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing and arranging surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies to ensure readiness for procedures.
- Assist surgeons during surgeries by passing instruments, suturing wounds, and managing surgical tools with precision and care.
- Maintain strict aseptic techniques and infection control protocols to prevent healthcare-associated infections.
- Monitor patient vital signs and physiological responses during surgery, providing critical support to the surgical team.
- Operate specialized medical equipment such as endoscopy devices, cardiovascular monitors, and anesthesia tools with expertise.
- Collect data related to surgical procedures, patient responses, and equipment performance for accurate medical records.
- Support trauma care, orthopedic surgeries, neurosurgery assistance, pediatric procedures, and other specialized interventions as needed.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Surgical Technologist in hospital settings or ambulatory surgery centers.
- Extensive knowledge of surgical instruments, medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and aseptic techniques.
- Hands-on experience assisting in trauma care, cardiovascular surgery assistance, neurosurgery support, orthopedic surgery, pediatrics, endoscopy procedures, and critical care environments such as ICU or Level II trauma centers.
- Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic or EHR systems for accurate documentation of patient data and surgical records.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications such as Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are a plus.
- Strong analysis skills for interpreting vital signs and physiological data during surgeries.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in high-acuity environments including Level I Trauma Centers or emergency medicine settings.
- Knowledge of infection prevention practices including sterilization of medical equipment and treatment of fractures when necessary.
