The founder of a small, niche market Upper West Side nursery school, seeks an Education Director who has the potential to learn our program and then quickly move into the role of Executive Director.
Requirements Include: NYS Teacher Certification in Early Childhood Education, Childhood Education, or Special Education, plus 5 years of early childhood classroom teaching experience. Who We Seek: Because we are a niche market school, we’re looking for someone who shares our values. We’re a school that attracts parents who want their children to learn to speak another language, eat organic food, spend quality time in nature, practice yoga, and express themselves creatively through art. We’re looking for an Executive Director who can continue to attract those families, inspire and retain our excellent teaching staff, and produce PreK and K graduates who are conversational in a second language, and ready to succeed in the city’s best public and private elementary schools.
Responsibilities: Serve in the role of Education Director while learning the school program/culture and receiving coaching in same. Then serve as Executive Director. Be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of this 45-student nursery school. Manage the staff and assure the safety, security, and learning of young children. Develop and manage the budget, and support the continued financial growth of the business. Recruit, supervise, and coach teachers. Collaborate in curriculum development. Communicate and build-community with parents. Recruit families and staff who share our values. Implement existing policies and recommend new policies and practices. Grow the school’s excellent reputation; protect its good name. Operate the school in compliance with DOH and DOE regulations. Manage the relationship between the school and city agencies, including the DOE, DOH, and FDNY. Lead and work collaboratively and harmoniously with the school administrative team. Report directly to the CEO.
Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
