Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify patient information, and schedule appointments using dental office management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft.
- Manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, answering inquiries promptly and routing calls efficiently.
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and handle insurance verification processes including Medicare and health insurance plans.
- Collect payments, process medical collections, and perform medical billing using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth.
- Review and update medical records ensuring accuracy in documentation review, coding (CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10), and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with patient intake procedures, including data entry for health information management and electronic health records (EHR) management.
- Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while managing medical records filing, documentation review, and ensuring adherence to health information management standards.
- Support clinic operations by coordinating medical scheduling, appointment confirmations, and handling front desk administrative support tasks such as filing and data entry.
- Utilize dental terminology effectively to communicate with patients and team members while supporting office management functions.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or Dental Receptionist within a dental or healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with dental office software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; experience with EMR systems like Epic or Meditech is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of health insurance processes including insurance verification, Medicare procedures, and medical billing practices.
- Experience with medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10) and documentation review to ensure accurate billing and compliance.
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing skills such as 10 key typing.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multi-line phone systems with professionalism while maintaining exceptional patient service standards.
- Prior clinic or hospital experience involving health information management, medical terminology, and clinical confidentiality policies is desirable.
