Parke-Vermillion County Humane Society has an opening for assistant shelter manager.
Duties include processing animals as they come into the shelter and helping with vaccinations of cats and dogs (and learning to vaccinate and microchip). Candidates must be able to physically work with dogs weighing more than 100 pounds, bend to clean cages and lift boxes.
This is a public-facing job. The ideal candidate will have experience in customer service, especially dealing with people who may not always be happy. Duties also include answering the phones and assisting at off-site adoption events. Candidate must be familiar with imputing data into software systems and using basic computer programs.
Valid Indiana driver’s license and clean driving record are required. Working with animals requires candidates to never be impaired by drugs or alcohol at any time.
We are also looking for someone who can grow our volunteer base, so must be good at motivating people and overseeing volunteers.
Candidates must be able to work Saturdays.
