Associate Shop Technician
The Associate Shop Technician performs entry-level cleaning and passivation of customer jobs within our clients facilities. Under Shop Leadership supervision, Shop Technicians work together to complete the process in a safe and expedient manner to prevent unnecessary down time of the customer equipment. Proper calculations and installation of our clients equipment plus vigilant operation of said equipment is necessary.
About the Role
We are a national specialty contractor performing precision chemical cleaning and passivation of high-purity fluid systems — primarily water and glycol — for hyperscale and enterprise data center clients across the central and eastern US. Our field technicians are deployed to high-profile job sites and do the mechanical work that keeps cooling and process infrastructure performing at spec.
This is a mid-level field role. You've got some mechanical experience and you're ready to put it to work in a specialized environment with a team that takes quality seriously.
What You'll Do
- Install, connect and set up operation for Astro Pak equipment to customer’s systems to execute chemical cleaning process while wearing proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Load/Unload vehicle with proper equipment/chemicals for specific job assignment
- Testing and cleaning of equipment when returned from jobs
- Ability to operate Astro Pak Forklift
- Works with various chemicals including but not limited to: citric, caustic and other hazardous chemicals
- Critical care/handling of customer parts
- Inspection and shipping and receiving of customer parts
- Handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Complete all required Safety Training including OSHA Certification
- Competence to comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures
- Maintains work area clean to CEO (Clean, Efficient, Organized)/5S Standards
- Other duties as assigned by Operations Manager
Compensation & Earning Power
Base pay is $20–$22/hr. Here's the full picture:
Loads of overtime — consistent on every project, often 50–60+ hour weeks during active phases.
Rental vehicle provided per job; company-paid passenger van for the crew on longer projects.
Automatic 10% raises at 6, 12, and 18 months plus performance-based milestones — commonly delivering +30% total growth in the first 18 months.
Result: Most technicians take home materially more than they would in a higher-base role that offers no per diem, no vehicle support, and no structured raises.
What We're Looking For
- One (1) year technical training or certification course; one (1) year of related experience or equivalent combination of experience and education preferred.
- Willing and able to work significant overtime, including holidays, weekends, and on short notice call in as required
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Ability to read and understand work instructions, documents, correspondence and memos.
- Effective communication skills which include verbal and written in English
- Possess a valid class “C” driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to operate and lift weight-bearing equipment that can weigh up to 50 pounds
- Ability to don proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for different chemical mixing processes
- Ability to wear a respirator as needed and/or required based on assignment
- Ability to perform basic mathematical functions. Should be able to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
- Moderate computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
