We are seeking a hardworking and reliable Underground Fiber Optic Laborer to join our utility construction crew. In this role, you will perform physical labor to assist in digging, trenching, and installing underground fiber optic conduit and cables. This is an entry-level position with excellent opportunities for hands-on training and career advancement in the telecommunications industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Manual Excavation: Dig trenches, shovel dirt, and clear debris from work areas using hand tools.
- Equipment Operation: Safely operate power tools.
- Conduit & Cable Placement: Place, pull, and secure underground conduit, innerduct, and fiber optic cables.
- Site Preparation & Restoration: Set up maintenance of traffic (MOT) signs and cones for safety, and restore job sites to their original condition after excavation.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all OSHA, company, and job site safety standards, including wearing proper PPE at all times.
Qualifications & Skills
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform heavy manual labor, lift up to 50 lbs consistently, and work outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, rain, mud).
- Dependability: Strong work ethic, punctual attendance, and a team-player attitude.
- Experience: Previous construction, landscaping, or utility experience is required.
- Requirements: Must possess a valid driver’s license and pass a background check and drug screening.
Compensation & Schedule
- Pay Range: $150 – $200 per day (depending on experience).
- Schedule: Full-time, typical shift is 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM (Monday – Friday).
- Pay Frequency: Weekly.
