We are currently seeking candidates for Field Data Technicians in Southeast United States area!
Sr. Field Data Technicians will start at $24/hour plus opportunity for hourly bonus with weekly pay! Plus hotel expenses, contract specific pay increase, living allowance and $4-$5/hour untaxed reimbursement for vehicle usage.
Summary of Position
An Osmose Field Technician is responsible for collecting detailed technical information about electric utility and telecommunication facilities and equipment. It is an outdoor position that requires hiking between spans of utility poles to capture data that supports outside plant engineering and various fiber-optic construction projects (select projects may require additional crew members and or the use of company vehicles). Osmose will train the ideal candidate to perform all required duties. This position requires routine overnight travel typically 1-2 weeks at a time away from home. Home most weekends with occasional out of state assignments which may involve longer stays of up to a month at a time if needed.
Responsibilities
- Work in an outdoor environment to collect field data that supports the engineering and design of fiber optic cable facilities. This will include measurements of attachment heights, span distances, angles, etc...
- Submit organized, detailed data for each project that could include maps, field notes and digital images.
- Maintain good customer and public relations by maintaining a professional appearance, being courteous, and communicating in a clear, respectful manner.
- Maintain a positive company image, including the appearance of the crew, vehicles, and work areas.
- Hire, train, motivate and supervise a crew of up to ten (10) employees of diverse backgrounds and skill levels (select projects).
- Effectively manage daily work and crew to meet safety, quality, production, expense control, and crew management goals (select projects).
- Organize resources and prioritize work to complete job within established time frame.
- Operate vehicles to transport material, equipment, and crew to and from job site—including utility vehicles (UTVs) and trailer towing as needed (*_select projects_*).
- Collect, record, and submit accurate, complete and timely data related to timekeeping, payroll, and work performed.
- Promote and enforce safety by conducting daily briefings, weekly safety meetings, ensuring safe work practices are followed, monitoring and maintaining tool condition, and ensuring all drivers of company vehicles are qualified through company programs.
- Properly maintain all vehicles, equipment, and tools used by the crew(select projects).
- Maintain adequate inventory of equipment, tools, materials, and supplies.
- Enforce and comply with all company and/or customer-required policies and procedures, including but not limited to crew member coaching, disciplinary action, a Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace, prohibition of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation.
- Operate and maintain equipment that would include tablet computer, digital camera, measuring tools and Personal Protective Equipment.
- Work professionally in the field as a representative of Osmose and our customers.
- Communicate effectively and on a daily basis with the project management team.
- Work safely and independent of supervision.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical background preferred.
- Basic knowledge of telecommunications and/or electrical distribution systems is a plus.
- Knowledge of pole design including NESC requirements and general safety practices is a plus.
- Enjoy working outdoors in all types of weather and have the desire to actively participate in physically demanding work lifting 15 to 20 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Basic proficiency with computers including the ability to read, interpret and follow GPS maps.
- Crew management experience is a plus
- Ability to follow process specifications and guidelines in an extremely high-quality, high paced environment.
- Ability to travel and work outside in variable terrain and weather conditions.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Excellent communication skills; both written and oral.
- Present a professional appearance and attitude.
- Demonstrate high work standards and attention to detail with a quality orientation.

- Ability to pass background check.
- Hold a current valid drivers license for at least 3yrs
- Minimum 1 year of outdoor work-related experience
- Minimum 1 year working in a role that required following a safety program or safety protocols (must provide details)
- Minimum 6 months experience working in a quality-controlled environment (must provide details)
- Minimum 6 months experience traveling to various work locations to include occasional overnight stays
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
