Education – A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) received from an accredited school of professional nursing is preferred. Candidates that have completed an Associate’s Degree or other program of at least two (2) years in nursing or a related field may also be considered. Post-Acute and/or Hospice nursing experience required.
Experience – A minimum of one (1) year related experience in a relevant job position.
Licenses & Certification - Incumbent is required to possess current licensure by the State of Oklahoma or National Council of State Boards of Nursing for Registered Nurse Current BLS, or within 60 days of hire.
Knowledge & Skills –
- Knowledge of all aspects of post-acute, hospice, and respite services.
- Knowledge of acceptable standards of nursing practices, principles and theories.
- Knowledge of MCNDH policies and procedures as they relate to post-acute and respite services.
- Knowledge of the Privacy Act and other related regulations with regards to confidentiality and the release of medical information.
- Knowledge of patient registration procedures and health benefits coordination.
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively with patients and their families, staff members, other MCNDH employees, tribal officials and the public both orally and in writing.
- Knowledge of patient teaching/counseling techniques.
- Knowledge of regulations regarding pre-certification, etc., of various insurance companies.
- Ability to support varied lifestyles, healing methods and practices and provide and teach culturally competent care.
- Knowledge and skill to utilize a PC in a Windows environment and to operate other necessary office equipment.
- Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with MCNDH administrative and medical staff, patients and their families, Tribal and Non-Tribal health care professionals and the public both orally and in writing.
The purpose of this position is to facilitate patient admissions to the post-acute service lines available within MCNDH. This position also provides leadership and clinical oversight to the respite care unit at COCH.
Work is performed in an office, clinical and hospital setting. Risk of exposure to hostile and emotionally disturbed patients, families and visitors does exist. There is a moderate risk of exposure to contagious disease. Incumbent must take precautions as required. Occassional travel may be required. Incumbent must be insurable to drive a GSA vehicle.
The work requires the demands of normal office work and dealing with patients in a hospital and clinic setting. Driving to provide patient placement assessments, marketing to other facilities, and education within MCNDH is also required.
