Position Summary
We are seeking experienced Journeyman Millwrights to join our maintenance and repair team. The ideal candidate will hold a Journeyman’s card or have the transferrable years of experience to demonstrate strong mechanical, hydraulic, and fabrication experience. These positions play a vital role in ensuring plant equipment operates efficiently, supporting production through proactive maintenance, troubleshooting, and installation of machinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair malfunctions in mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Overhaul, fit bearings, repair and adjust clutches and cylinders
- Replace, repair, and reassemble components to proper operating condition
- Perform short welding and brazing tasks
- Disassemble, move, install, align, and level industrial machinery and support equipment
- Fabricate, assemble, and maintain air, water, and coolant piping systems
- Plan and test piping installations for leaks and sufficient capacity
- Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on all mechanical and hydraulic systems
- Collaborate with Engineering or R&D to design or modernize equipment for improved performance
- Install and repair electrical fixtures, wiring, and control equipment
- Connect and test power cables, switches, relays, and circuit breakers
- Verify mechanical alignment and tolerances using calipers, gauges, and micrometers
- Use hoists, lift trucks, and cranes to safely move and install machinery
- Operate lathes, grinders, and mills to fabricate replacement or custom parts as needed
- Maintain accurate maintenance and repair documentation through computerized systems
Qualifications
- Journeyman’s card in Maintenance Machine Repair or Millwright classification or transferrable years of experience required
- Proven experience in machine repair, alignment, and installation
- Proficiency with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems
- Welding and brazing experience required
- Strong blueprint and schematic reading ability
- Forklift operation certification (must obtain company-issued license within probationary period)
- Ability to fabricate, assemble, and test piping systems
- Proficient with precision measurement tools and mechanical drawings
- Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods
- Safety-conscious and familiar with industrial safety protocols
