Head Cheer and Dance Coach
This contracted, exempt position is responsible for the organization, coordination, supervision, and implementation of the cheer and dance programs at Valley Lutheran High School. This 5-month position reports to the Athletic Director and is based in Phoenix, Arizona.

Responsibilities
· Demonstrate Christian concern for athletes' academic, athletic, social, and spiritual development
· Initiate, schedule, coordinate, and conduct scheduled practices
· Develop and teach age-appropriate cheer routines, dance choreography, and performance material
· Promote proper technique and prioritize student-athlete safety during practices, performances, and events
· Provide a system for issuing athletic equipment and uniforms to athletes and supervise such equipment
· Supervise assistant coaches, as applicable
· Coordinate with the Athletic Director regarding home contests, performances, and other school events
· Perform other related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· Excellent organizational abilities and professional written and oral communication skills
· Ability to work independently and maintain a consistent schedule
· Knowledge of current trends, techniques, and safety practices in cheer and/or dance
· Ability to motivate and develop student-athletes in a Christ-centered environment
· Available evenings and weekends
· Occasional travel with teams
Education and/or Training
A bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred but not required. Previous coaching, instructional, or performance experience in cheer and/or dance is preferred. High school coaching experience is also preferred.
Compensation
This is a contracted position. Compensation is dependent upon individual qualifications and experience.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

At-Will Employment
The employee relationship between Valley Lutheran and its employees is of an at-will nature. This means the employee is hired for an indefinite period. Thus, the employee is free to leave at any time he or she believes it is in his/her best interest. Similarly, Valley may terminate the employment relationship whenever it is deemed appropriate.
